13th January 2011 – Manta Rota to Tavira

13 01 2011

Sometime you just need to get your washing done and ours was piling up as the last time we did any washing was when we were at Mimizan Plage in France before Christmas, we needed to get it done.

We came back to the motorhome the other day to find a flyer for a campsite in Tavira, 20 minutes up the road from us, so we phoned them up to see what price they charged. It was a good call as the cost was under €10 a night, including electricity and wi-fi, their washing machines were also keenly priced at €2 a wash. We phoned a couple of other sites in and around Tavira and they were much more expensive, one of them charged €10 for 24 hours internet access which was just silly!

We packed everything up and headed off to the campsite which was located just outside the main town of Tavira (N37°08’10.54″ W07°38’23.75″). The site, Parque de Campismo de Tavira was functional but not ideal for motorhomes as access to the grassed areas was difficult to say the least, we ended up parking on one of the roads close to the reception. Once we were sorted out we started the washing, 7 loads of it all together and we managed to get it at least washed, drying was a more difficult proposition as there was no drier there so we ended up taking over as many of the washing lines as we could manage with the pegs we had.

We spent the rest of the day constantly turning the washing around to get it as dry as possible, as soon as possible, but the sun eventually went in and we had to resort to getting our electric heater out to completely dry our bedclothes in our shower room.
